Hip Scarf
A hip scarf is also essential for most costumes. Medium to heavy cotton is the suggested fabric. Do not use stretch fabric or you might find your scarf slipping off.
- Start with one square yard of fabric and cut it in half (figure 1).
- Cut one of the halves in half (figure 2).
- Sew the two quarters on to the half making a scarf two yards long (figure 3).
- Hem all the way around.
- Sew three rows of fringe on the one yard section and a row of fringe on each end.
- Fold the scarf in half lengthwise and tie it in front with a square knot (figure 4).
