Maritime Belly Dance and Ethnic Dance Events

There aren't a whole lot of places where you can buy Middle Eastern Dance-related merchandise in north-eastern North America, but there are a few.

Shantell Powell maintains a website based out of Fredericton, NB which sells dance books, videos, music, etcetera. She also sells her own self-published costuming book. She has an excellent selection of locally-made high-quality costuming (ghawazee coats, belts, bras, circle skirts, harem pants, etc.) as well as imported Turkish, Egyptian, and Indian goods, including hip scarves, swords, complete costumes, CDs, bindis, jewellery, and more! To arrange a viewing, send her an email.

Bramakers Supply: Learn how to make your own perfectly-fit bras from Beverly's collection of patterns and supplies.

Senitza's Designs is based out of Port Coquitlam, B.C. Check out her collection of costumes (imported from Turkey and Egypt or designed and made here in Canada), zills, and videos.

Ice Cube Imports: Besides having the coolest Canadian dance logo I've ever seen, Ice Cube Imports carries a great selection of Kuchi jewellery, hip scarves, veils, body stockings, belts, etcetera. Check out the Kuchi belts. They're to die for....

Bab's Designs: Toronto-based costume designer sells dance couture!

In downtown Fredericton, Cultures Boutique at 383 Mazzuca's Lane, sells some belly dance supplies, including belts, tops, and zills.
