Sherry Britton

[Sherry Britton]

This is a signed photo of Sherry Britton. The photo was taken by James Kollar, and the photo is listed as compliments of "The World Famous LEON and EDDIE'S W.52 St., N.Y." I don't know the date, but it's probably from the 40s or 50s.

The autograph says, "Sincerely, Sherry Britton."

Sherry looks very graceful, doesn't she? She was a very famous, and very good, strip-tease artist whose published vital statistics were 38-18-33. According to Grin and Bare It, "Britton bumped her first grind when she was thirteen, the same year Depression-driven workers won the right to strike. Her first gig was at the Bowery's People's Theatre, watering hole to the elite of bumdum. "You had to think of something to heighten the audience's imagination. Everybody had a gimmick." Britton's was knee-length hair, used to conceal (or reveal) during her pseudoballetic routine."
