Belly Dance - Instructional Fitness Workout Within Traditional Movement by Goldea. "This is a great tape. I bought it because I was looking for a longer workout and more ideas. I would not say it encourages dancing so much as incorporating dance into a workout, but I like the setup. Goldea talks and walks you through everything, accompanied by two dancers of differing body types. Goldea tells you to modify and follow one of her dancer's moves if you are in a lower fitness level, which I thought was a great idea that no one else has incorporated into their videos."

Flex Appeal: A Belly Dance Workout by Kathy Smith. "First, the good. This is a nice aerobic workout. You will sweat, you will have fun, and if you're anything like me, you will laugh at yourself a lot. If you have no experience with bellydance, the slow and sensual section is not bad. If you do, however, you'll probably find it a little too slow. The heat it up section is fun, but often she doesn't give enough time to get the steps down. The moves shouldn't take more than 2 or 3 viewings to get though. I gave this 3 stars because I found Kathy Smith's lead to be very stiff and distracting. When I finally stopped watching her and watched the professionals in the background, I found the video much easier to follow."

No Guts and Proud of It. "A great video to exercise to and just watch. The funny skits alone are worth the purchase and at the end are full routines of each dancer featured doing their exercise routines which includes aerobics, weights and yoga. Anyone can follow these routines and have fun with them, too! The music is Mideastern and has great beats!"

Sensuality Through Movement - Tai-Chi & Bellydancing by Jean Goulet. "Gives basic flexibility exercises by teaching a few bellydancing and a few T'ai-chi movements. The purpose seems to be to gain control over the fine muscles of the body to learn to move gracefully. This video is great for people who don't have years to devote either to T'ai-chi or bellydancing but want to derive the benefits with some simple exercises. The tape is clear and well made."

"I was impressed with the 'ramp-up' attitude of the aerobic content of the video.. it didn't immediately force you to do things you weren't ready for. This video is great for the beginner, the advanced beginner, and also the advanced bellydancer. I think that anyone involved with bellydancing, if even curious or expert, should check out this video."

Belly Dancing for Fun & Fitness by Janine Rabbitt. "This was the first belly dance instructional video I ever bought. When I popped it into the VCR, I was excited. I soon became disillusioned. If this is the only exposure anyone ever gets of the dance, s/he will be disillusioned. Between Eddie's sickening ain't-she-purty speech and Janine's horrible "dancing" (flailing/hopping) there is little of educational value which can be gleaned from this horrid tape. Nevertheless, the video is entertaining in a B-movie kinda way. Janine hopping and twirling the hankies made me burst into laughter despite myself. The only thing this tape can teach is how NOT to dance."

The first part of the workout is made up of segments where you work on the abs - the arms - and the hips - learning movements that will be incorporated into the dance at the end - and toning at the same time. Then at the end, the dance is taught in a TIFTT manner - each segment is taught slowly and then in tempo - and then put together in one long sequence which is a buzz!"
