holly: who are you? shannie?

ShanMonster: I haven't been called that since junior high school.

holly: never mind. thought you were someone else. bye

ShanMonster: You thought I was someone else whose age, sex, and location you did not know?

holly: hey, bitch, you wrote to me

ShanMonster: Bitch? Why are you getting miffy? You sent me "a/s/l" completely unprovoked.

holly: cuz i thought you were someone else!

ShanMonster: If you thought I was someone else, why did you ask me things you theoretically would have known? Or did you think I was a stranger and just realize I'm the wrong stranger? I'm finding this exchange wonderfully wonky.

holly: i just saw the name in the white pages, and thought you might have been my friend "shannie". she says stuff like shanmonster. i asked a/s/l to see if it was her, but obviously not

ShanMonster: Why didn't you just ask if it was her? I'm sure there are all sorts of people with the same age, sex, and location. And if you found me in the White Pages, you would have seen the user information.

holly: i didn't have to ask if it was her cuz when you said you havn't been called shannie since junior high i knew you weren't her because everyone still calls her shannie

ShanMonster: Why did you start with the ill-advised "a/s/l" when you could have started out with asking if I was "shannie"?

holly: i don't know. it doesn't matter. what school do you go to?

ShanMonster: I don't. I graduated from UNB in 1994.

holly: see, thats why i asked "age". she's only 16

ShanMonster: Here's a hint: next time, check the user information and you just might save yourself the embarassing faux pas of calling a complete stranger a bitch.
