    By David Kennedy

I decided to look into the topic of yoga as a way of discovering and finding yourself in the present day in age. I soon found out that Yoga has been around for thousands of years, and in fact the particular practice of Yoga in which I decided to study Kundalini yoga is a type of meditation that is over 50,000 years old. Actually one of the article’s I read said it could be well over 70,000 years old. It was developed by a group of people called rishis, who originated from India and Tibet. These people systematically perfected the precise breathing that activate different parts of the brain as well as the body which leave you with specific and desired outcomes.

Kundalini is said to be the inner energy that is located within our souls. It is energy of consciousness and an awareness of the higher self. It try’s to spark ones creative energy as well as our dormant energy within us which in turn expands ones awareness.

These secret teachings were brought to the West in 1969 by Yogi Bhajan. This was the first time it had ever been publicly taught, it was also the first time a hard copy was made available to anyone who desired to practice it, it had only been offered to a select few before this time. It was Yogi’s belief that all who wished to have the kundalini experience should be able to have the opportunity.

Kundalini Yoga is described as a science, art and technology enabling one to access and 450-6122 utilize his or her own creativity for elevation of consciousness, healing and other purposes. This power, (shakti), is thought to be located in the lower part of the spine, and is often pictured as a coiled, sleeping snake (serpent) it then supposedly wakes up and unites with the some sort of Universal Energy called (prana). This of course empowers the individual with awareness beyond regular human capability.

On a different note kundalini yoga is one of the only yoga methods to allow sex. Kundalini actually persists on having sex, and is said to enhance your sexual energy or drive giving you a better sex life. It was stated in this web site http://www.dolfzine.com.htm “when you achieve the ability to call on your body's inner potential, you must have the guidance of a trained practitioner. This power can be compared to the experience of taking psychedelic drugs.” Now tell me that doesn’t sound interesting.

Kundalini is said to be the most powerful form of Yoga. It is said to give results 15 times faster as well as having an easier curriculum to follow. It was also stated that Kundalini Yoga is more concentrated than other forms of Yoga, and is safe to practice on your own because the positions are not dangerous for first timers.

Kundalini Yoga is said to be very addictive. It will leave you wanting more, especially after you start to feel the results. After reading in to this hole topic of yoga, I really actually think that this could be a very interesting way to discover things about yourself that you didn’t already know. I think this type of yoga, or from what I’ve read any type of yoga could really open your eyes to a lot of what is going on around us, as well as within us .It seems to me that in this day in age people really don’t get to stop and smell the roses anymore. Kundalini yoga does just that, it seems to allow you to relax and blend your understandings of what is going on around you together to make a conclusion or an answer to the questions in your day to day life in with what is around you
