Prince-Bishop Philipp Adolf von Ehrenberg ruled over Wurzburg. From 1623 until his death in 1631, von Ehrenberg had "tortured, beheaded and burned 900 persons, including at least 300 children three to four years of age" (Guiley 1989 21).
