John Parkhurst, Witch-Hunter of Norfolk and Suffolk

John Parkhurst, like John Jewel had been exiled during the reign of Mary Tudor. Parkhurst spent his exile amongst the witch-hunters of Zürich. By 1590, Parkhurst was back in England and had headed up at least five executions and fourteen recorded indictments. One of the witches executed was Margaret Read. She was burned alive at King's Lynn (Davies 18).
