Olive

Although not typically part of a witch's larder, olive and its extracts were occasionally used. One ointment of invisibility called for vervain to be steeped overnight in olive oil or lard (Guiley 1989 255).


As a Ward

In Italy, blessed olive branches were believed to keep witches away from homes (Thiselton-Dyer 69).
