Lady Alice KytelerDisclaimerThis is NOT a page about Wiccans or neo-pagans, and I do not advocate the belief that Wiccans are Satan-worshippers and/or baby-killers. I am well aware that they are not. This is a starting point for historical research into the great witch craze of 1100-1700 AD. And please, don't ask me for spells. Lady Alice KytelerIn 1324, Alice Kyteler was accused "by an Irish bishop, Richard of Ledrede, of witchcraft, murder of three husbands, and sex with demons, but she excaped to England. Several of her accomplices were caught and punished in Ireland" (Ashley 199). Other sources say she was charged with poisoning four husbands (Wedeck 205). She was also accused of using "the skull of a beheaded robber for mixing up her poisons and potions" (Guiley 1989 53-55). Lost?Lady Alice Kyteler is copyrighted 1996-1998 to Shantell Powell. |
